Since there were no reviews, and due to it being so new, I took the plunge and I'm glad I did.
I was so worried about sony's backlight bleed it was making me sick until it arrived, in a pitch black room, straight out of the box, there were tiny pools of bleed in all four corners I was devestated, but after some tweaking in the first week and now 2 months on and it being calibrated, there's nothing to worry about and I am extremely happy with this tv.
I have a 2 year old who will only watch disney's cars (everyday without fail, on dvd not bluray)and it looks fantastic, to the point it jumps out at you.
Both bluray, xbox360 and using the ps3 is the same, I can't recommend this tv enough, I have a 2 year old sony 'v' series and I can't believe the difference, maybe its's the motionflow or maybe it's just me, you can't even compare the two tv's together, I just have to get a dish sorted and try the freesat.
Became so cheesed-off with the back light bleed, I complained to the shop and they agreed to change it for another one. They set the replacement TV up in the store but that one turned out to be far worse than the one I already had! Finally decided on a total refund as they refused to unbox another one.
Went to another shop (Sony Centre) and they set one up in the show room from their stock - it was perfect! I am now the happy owner of a 40w5810 - no back light bleed at all!
I bought this TV last week and it has backlight bleed in the top left hand corner.
dgj666, what tweaking did you do to get rid of the bleed on your TV? I have tried the calibation settings recommended for the 40w5500 on another website but it hasn't made any difference.

I bought this tv not long after it came out.
