Often the best TV is the one that makes fewest sacrifices to achieve all-round ability – the Samsung is that set

From what I can tell from the Samsung.com website, the 850 model has FilterBright anti-glare technology.

Since we reviewed it a year ago, it's a 2009 model and therefore yes, quite likely to have been discontinued.

umm, sets no longer available???

Is image retention a bit of an issue?

you can buy this for under a grand!!!!! So wished I had waited

Whats is the difference between this model and the Samsung PS50B850 then?

I had the same issue with the noise from the PSU. I was also very disappointed with picture quality. I have a le46m86bd and feel that the colours are much more realistic without calibration. My set also had a bizarre issue where there was a piece of styrofoam stuck between the front crystal panel and the display! Needless to say it went back for a refund and I certainly won't be looking for another one. Will stick with what I have until I can get a nice Sammy LED TV at a decent price.

i have just bought the 850 model, and am returning it to the  supplier due to excessive noise from the power supply. i suspect caused by jamming too much equipment into a very thin body, so possibly a design fault. although the samsung call out engineer said the power supply was faulty, but as it was under 14 days old i dsould return it. The noise was lound enough to be heard from 5 metres away at low volumes. gets worse when picture changes rapidly as the plasma cells draw more power. There is acceptable noise  from plasma tv's but this is over the top.
