Have them partnered with a rocksan caspian m1, using musical fidelity v-dac 2/ v-psu 2, they sound great, wav and spotify sound nice, they do need room to breath, id say at least a foot from the rear wall, the rx1's produce a rich slighty warm sound, fine detail, good bass, overall a fine speaker.
These a beautifully built speakers to grace any room, regarding pairing them with 'warm sounding' gear I have mine paired Cambridge audio 650a/c which i thinks works really well as CA gear are well known for sounding more clinical and analytical.
I've had these RX1s for 3 weeks now, partnered with NAD C545 CD and C326 amp, and I'm really happy with them.
It is worth experimenting with positioning and the port bungs depending on where you can place them. I agree they need to be away from the wall but the bungs do work if required.
I auditioned them with B&W685 and RS5 (discounted) and found them to stand out for bass control and detail. I could listen to them all day as they are very easy on the ears.
Build quality is excellent and they look great too. I went for black (not gloss).
I paired this RX1 with NAD C355BEE and using oppo BDP-83 as CD player. Interconnects are Chord Cobra Plus and speaker cables are Chord Odyssey 4 bi-wired. I got a small room and the RX1 is less than a foot from the wall and inside the shelf as these speakers are placed on the shelf instead of on steel stands. At first I found the bass was very boomy. I try not to use the port bungs as it will change the speaker characteristics. Eventually I bought two bass traps (triangular in shape)and place them at the corners of the back of the speakers. Now I am really happy with the sound quality and the bass is just right.
For me this is the BEST bookshelf speaker on the budget. it looks and works like a charm. I partnered these with Cambridge Audio 340 amp & cd combo, single wired with van den Hul Royal Jade cable. Sound is amazingly open for such a small speaker, good highs, pretty well controlled bass and lovely mid. MA was a perfect match for my CA combo. I think this small speaker is a killer and you cannot wish for more unless you pay double its price. give MA space and also isolate them well from the bottom surface using good absorbers (i would not place MA directly into or on bookshelf) and they will reward you even more. I used additionally hard glass with shock absorbers plus also gave absorbers between glass and surface, the end result was WoW !!!
Conclusion: at this price level RX1 is impossible to beat. I am so much happy with them.

Hi got these today running on a denon 1910 and they sound wonderful very easy on the hears sound you just want to listen to

The review clearly warns of pairing them with warm electronics. Anyone can provide guidance whether Marantz can pair well with them?
