DALI Lektor 2
The Lektor 2s offer fantastic value for money and one of the most captivating midrange characters you can hear at this price point

We wouldn't normally consider Dali an obvious choice when it comes to calling in highly affordable speakers for a Group Test.
After all, we’re more used to evaluating larger, more expensive fare from this Danish company.
The Lektor 2s feel like a budget design, but they look pleasant enough with their paper-coned mid-bass driver and soft textile dome tweeter. Slotted in between the drivers is a pair of neat bass ports.
And despite their lower price, they don’t sound out of their depth, but rather lead the way with their expressive, emotive midrange.
Spin Goldfrapp’s cover version of It’s Not Over Yet from the BBC’s brilliant Live Lounge series of CDs, and the Dalis steal the show with their enchanting, inviting sound. Delivered via the Lektor 2s, the track is truly memorable.
Dali's offer well defined bass
Switch to a more rousing, dynamic piece such as Bizet’s Carmen Suite No.2 and still the Lektor 2s don’t disgrace themselves.
True, they don’t quite have the dynamic reach of some rivals such as B&W's 685s, and they have to put in more of an effort with the explosiveness of this track, but the Dalis still cope admirably.
Yes, they do sound just a little ‘lively’ in the treble at times, but, given the price it would be unfair to come down too heavily on them for that slight foible.
The Lektor 2s don’t have the bass extension of the best in this sector, but every low note is taut and well-defined. They have no trouble rocking with Bruce Springsteen’s Radio Nowhere or keeping the energetic bass line of Kanye West’s Street Lights bouncing along.
When you take into account the considerable price difference between the Lektor 2s and the B&W 685s, it should be apparent that you’re actually getting real value for money here.
By any standards the Dalis are seriously entertaining speaker.
