It's still a worthy addition to your kit, but it's been ousted from the top slot by its peers

This is a poorly written review for several reasons:

Much of the review is unclear. The reviewer says, "you'll be buying the most eager and determined player out there," and, "the 650C seems determined for you to enjoy it thanks to its pacey, driven delivery." This makes up a third of the little review, but what does it even mean?

Apparently there's only one criticism the reviewer could come up with; yet, the criticism given isn't legitimate, and, there's two more to be found in the review. First, the allegedly only criticism they could come up with is that there's a "sheer number of buttons." (Presumably there are too many buttons, rather than too few). This is silly; There's no excessive number of buttons on this remote—c'mon. Also, the reviewer actually writes a "second" criticism right after the alleged "only criticism," that it can be bettered by another machine in its class. And don't forget the con's section where we get another: a hint of trebble brightness.

This review is poorly written. Too much of it is unclear and carelessly written.

All this aside. I own this player. I'm not about to write my own little review, but I will say I love it.

Sad to see the axe falling again on CA products in here. Actually, I thought the pros showered upon on 650c outweigh the cons, amazing product indeed. Even last year, they compared the 6002 series from Marantz and 640v2 from CA in here and glorified the 6002 series, losing a star the 640. Now, this, it never ends for CA.

And how does this CD-player sound compared to the hyped class-leader NAD C545BEE? Not a word about that in this review.

I purchased the Cambridge Azur 650 as replacement for an irrepairable Cryus cd player, which 8 years ago cost £800. Given the price difference I was a little apprehensive whether it would do justice when matched with my Cyrus 7 amp and Totem Mite speakers. I shouldn't have worried, as in my opinion the Azurs completely out performs my old Cyrus. With its amazing detail, smooth fluid sound and controlled bass I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cd player under £1,000. I am so impressed, in fact, that I am considering replacing my Cyrus 7 with the latest Cambridge amp. Happy listening!

I installed my Azur 650C yesterday evening, it was purchased in order to replace my Rotel RCA965BX limited edition. Even though the 650C is still running in the sound is IMHO excellent. It has completely changed the sound staging of my system giving far more depth. My CDs sound totally different; I can hear far more than ever before. I do not find the 650C to be "bright or clinical" as often Cambridge Audio products are purported to be. Definitely worth every penny
