It's October 24th, and it's 'find the space for all the candles' time for former Rolling Stones bassist and latterday Rhythm King Bill Wyman. He was born William George Perks in Lewisham, London, in 1936.

It's also 27 years since Michael Jackson's Bad topped the charts, 78 years since John Wayne's first starring role – in The Big Trail –, and 107 years since 63-year-old schoolteacher Annie Edson Taylor became the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel.

Why? It was her birthday, and she needed the money...

On which subject – needing the money, that is, not birthdays – this week, apart from preparing for the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision/Stuff Live Show, which opens next Friday, we have mainly been working on...
- Bringing you exclusive online reviews of products including Denon's AVR-2809 receiver and Sony's Play TV for the PS3
- Looking forward to HD developments in Freesat and Freeview
- Showing you how Bang & Olufsen and Sony are planning to weather the financial storm
- And checking out the world's smallest projector

Meanwhile on the Forums we now have over 19,000 members, more than 86,000 threads and getting on for 140,000 posts.

This week we have been discussing Airport Express connections,  the problems of you other half treating you to some speakers, and seeking subwoofer advice.

So why not join in? Click here to access the Forums or sign up, here to subscribe to the magazine – oh, and here to buy tickets for the show.
