The Best of the Week - 12/09/08
It's September 12th, and 60 years ago today Elvis Aaron Presley, then just 13, moved with his family from Tupelo to Memphis, where he would be discovered and become rather well-known. A life-size statue of Elvis at that age stands in Tupelo, depicting him walking with his guitar.
In other music events, 42 years ago today The Monkees TV show made its debut, featuring America's answer to The Beatles, and it's five years since The Man in Black, Johnny Cash, died aged 71.
Meanwhile here in whathifiland it's only a week until our November issue goes on sale, and in just five weeks the 2008 What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Awards issue hits the shops.

Highlights this week here on whathifi.com include:
- The announcement in the States of a complete new Rotel range
- Our as-it-happened report on the launch of the new iPods
- A sub-£500 HD projector from Infocus
- And the TV we wanted to test so much we went and bought it
Meanwhile on the Forums we now have well over 17,000 members, over 76,000 threads and more than 120,000 posts. This week we have still been discussing a certain cable review, getting all nostalgic for classic children's TV and discusssing Audio File Hierarchies, Naming Conventions and Management Strategies.
Well, it's nice to have some lighthearted conversation inbetween all the serious stuff, isn't it?
