It's the 11th of July, and amazingly it's 39 years since David Bowie released his Space Oddity LP, which has been floating in a most-a peculiar way ever since.

And 57 years ago Cleveland DJ Alan Freed launched his rhythm and blues radio show, which in 1954 became Alan Freed's Rock and Roll Party, and a new musical genre was born.

Finally, 23 years ago this weekend, Richard Skinner made his famous 'It's 12 o'clock in London..." announcement, and Live Aid was underway.

Coming back up to date, this week on whathifi.com we've:

– Brought you our verdict on the Philips 37PFL9603 TV, and Apple's 3G iPhone
– Told you about new ranges from Samsung and LG
– Got to grips with Yamaha's £5000 DSP-Z11 AV amp
– And talked to Freesat about its launch problems

Over in the Forums we now have almost 16,000 registered users, over 61,000 threads and more than 96,000 posts to keep you talking.

This week we've been discussing bunging ports, Indiana Jones on Blu-ray and dream supergroups.
