Over at Sony HQ, it's a case of if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Following the ill-fated firmware update for PS3 that was launched last week, see here, it appears the Japanese giant has a bug-free, 2.41 replacement up its sleeve.

In case you missed the main features of the new update, they include in-game access to the console's cross media bar (XMB) and the inclusion of trophies (Sony's equivalent to Xbox gamer points).

So, as long as Sony doesn't find any more problems, you'll be able to download the new firmware by the end of the week. Fingers crossed...

al30tsm, you can already play music while browsing the web.  Get the music playing.  Then hit the PS button and you are returned to the XMB menu.  You can then navigate to the network and browsing option and away you go.

same as mring has commented above, what i'd realy like is to play music(either cd or from hdd) when browsing the internet.

nothing happened with the 2.40 firmware, i have it everything works it doesn't disable anything there are just some minor bugs with certain games on certain types of PS3 (first gen US model).

I'll let you go first ......
