Sony has added to its Bravia Theatre 'invisible home cinema' range with the RHT-G500. It's a home theatre in a stand designed for use with 32-40in TVs.

While all you see is an AV stand, albeit one with rather chunky legs and a few control buttons, there's some surround sound technology hidden away.

The RHT-G500 uses a 3.1-channel surround system, with centre, left and right speakers together with a subwoofer all built in to the stand. Sony's S-Force PRO Front Surround technology is on hand to deliver its best shot at 'surround sound' without the need for rear speakers.

The system has three HDMI inputs, capable of 1080p/24fps pass-through, plus Sony's Digital Media Port that allows further connectivity. There's also a remote control supplied.

This latest AV rack fits in to the line-up below the RHT-G900 and RHT-G1500, so while no details on pricing or availability have emerged, we will hazard a guess at the RHT-G500 selling for around £400.

Do you have any dimensions of the RHT-G500?
