Pioneer has just launched its £2000 LX01BD Blu-ray system, designed to complement its new Kuro LCD and plasma flatscreen TVs.

The LX01BD incorporates a Profile 1.1 Blu-ray player with an integrated 5.1 channel amplifier and compact, dodecahedron satellite speakers.

There are two combined front/centre speakers and two rear speakers, plus a subwoofer.

The unit can decode DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD high-definition audio, upscale video to 1080p, and Pioneer's multichannel acoustic calibration system analyses the sound characteristics of the listening room and calibrates the system accordingly.

Connectivity includes two-in, one-out HDMI sockets, and there's support for Deep Colour via HDMI too.

A touch-screen LCD is included as part of the package, and the unit is finished in gloss piano black with an aluminium top-plate. Kuro Link enables the user to operate the entire system using the remote control of a Kuro flatscreen TV.

...and i've just this second found out we'll be getting an LX01BD Blu-ray system in for review next week.

They certainly seem to share a lot of specs. We'll put them up against each other when we get the new system into test....

Are the lifestyle looks the only difference between the Pioneer LX71 and LX08 Blu-ray players?
