Philips bdp7500
New £250 machine features mirrored front panel, hidden controls and USB input

Now available from Philips is the £250 BDP7500 Blu-ray Disc player, which the company says "will re-write the standard for build quality and design in the mid-range segment".

The new player is Profile 2/BD Live compliant, with 1GB of memory, supports image formats up to 21:9, has onboard decoding and 7.1-channel analogue outputs, and of course offers DVD upscaling to 1080p.

There's also a USB socket on the front panel, and the player can handle file formats including DivX Ultra, H.264, VC-1, JPEG and MP3.

The styling combines rounded edges and an inlaid lip with a subtle blue light, while the front panel has a black, mirror-like finish and touch sensitive illuminated controls.
