October 2008 issue on sale today!

We've a bumper new issue of the magazine lined up for you this month, with a whole host of exclusive reviews, including Wadia's extraordinary £349 iTransport/iPod dock, Panasonic's SC-BT100 Blu-ray-in-a-box home cinema system, new budget Blu-ray players from Samsung and Sony, a monster AV amp from Pioneer and Pure's clever Evoke Flow internet radio.
Our cover Supertest is a a battle between the best £340-£500 standmount and floorstanding hi-fi speakers from the likes of Acoustic Energy, B&W, KEF, Mission, Monitor Audio, QAcoustics and Tannoy.
And if it's hi-fi that floats your boat, don't miss our Group Test of £1500-£2000 turntables.
We've also run our First Test ruler over the Arcaydis SM35A speakers, Denon's D-M37DAB micro system, Pro-ject's new £140 Genie 2 turntable, Sony's impressive VPL-VW60 Full HD projector, Dynaudio's Excite X32 floorstanders and Onkyo's TX-SR576 £300 multichannel receiver.
Home cinema enthusiasts are equally well catered for. Did you know you can now buy a 46in flatscreen TV for close to the same price as a 42in? We prove the point by testing a mix of 42in and 46in screens from LG, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba.
And if you're looking for a budget DVD player for a second room in the house, we've rounded up four sub-£100 models to choose from.
In our Temptations section we take along, hard look (and listen) to Monitor Audio's PL100 stereo speakers, and the Roksan Xerxes 20 Plus turntable, yours for a cool £5225.
At the opposite end of the price and performance scale, we've pitted the new Apple iPhone 3G against rivals from Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
So don't miss the October 08 issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, on sale from August 21st.

OK, let's answer some of those questions -
Panasonic are getting us some 800-series sets, but we were keen to prioritise the 81-series Freesat sets ahead of the Olympics.
Sony supplied that DVD player by choice and it was still widely available when we tested it. Can't tell you if it's better/worse than a player we've not yet seen - sorry!
Re Next Month info - we've got a magazine redesign coming up, so will take the suggestion on board.
one more thing which has annoyed me about this magazine for years is can you please put the next issue out info on the inner back page so it is easy to find like in most magazine and not on page 26-32
which no one can ever find
one problem with the budget dvd player round up yiu reviewed the sony ns 78 model which has been replaced with the sony ns 708 ( i have one) should you have reviewed this model instead?
and is it better than the ns 78 model as i have both and will be selling one of them
So why no review of pana z800 series ? these have been in the shops for the last 3 mths now.
Cypher - we reviewed the Tannoy Mercury F4 Custom speakers in the Supertest
stickanL - yes, I know the month thing is odd, but magazines are always a month ahead (ie August issue comes out early July) and for much of the year we keep to that standard publishing formula. However, in order to fit in our 13 issues a year - the Awards issue comes out 16th October - dates can get a bit screwy for a couple of issues in the summer.
Oct issue released in august? Why not X-mas issue or august 2009 issue?
Does a later date naming promote sales that much???
Can anyone tell me which Tannoy speakers were reviewed in the Supertest ?
Don't worry, I buy the mag every month but I have to wiat to weeks before it's available in Holland
The Denon DVD-2500BT will definitely be in our next issue (if not online sooner).
The higher-end and entry-level Denon Blu-ray players aren't in shops until November, so it'll be a while longer before we get to test those.
Yes, probably in our next issue, out in four weeks' time.
Will you be reviewing the Denon Blu ray players in the near furure
