NEWS: SIM2 appointed exclusive distributor of SmX projection screens in the UK

Projector manufacturer SIM2 is to be the exclusive distributor of SmX projection screens for the UK and Europe from May 1st. SIM2 will be responsible for the company's Pro-Mask, Pro-Curv and Pro-Curv Mask projection screen product ranges.

The SmX range uses a special screen-framing system, black velvet trimming, acoustic insulation and a screen-mounting system for easy on-site adjustment to counteract the 'moiré' effect with digital projectors.

SmX, after carrying out research into acoustically-transparent screen materials, has developed its own Cineweave HD. This bespoke material addresses the shortcomings of perforated and woven screen material, the company claims, including narrow viewing angles, loss of screen gain, moiré patterning and non-linear audio response.

SmX has also developed the first screen masking system to offer up to six aspect ratio settings, and a fixed-curve screen system for Cinemascope-style screen installations. Both features are available on the Pro-Mask and Pro-Mask Curve ranges. Prices start from £1700.
