NEWS: Linn announces new music server and streaming CD player

This slimline unit is Linn's new Akurate Music Server, designed to be used with networked hard drives to stream music out to up to eight zones at once. It delivers full-bandwidth stereo playback, and is designed to be rack-mounted and used with Linn's own multiroom systems or industry-standard controllers.

The £4986 unit works with remote network attached storage devices to give unlimited capacity, and allows independent access to all of the content stored on the network from each of the eight zones. It can also be controlled by third-party devices such as those from AMX or Crestron, via Ethernet or RS232.

It's part of Linn's Open Knekt system, allowing the company's custom install products to interface with popular control systems. The Roomamp2 power amplifier and Custom 2k in-wall speakers are among other Open Knekt products.

Also coming from Linn is the Klimax DS Digital Music player, said to be 'the first authentic hi-fi product to stream digital music over a standard home network'. More details when we get them.
