NEWS: Grundig's wacky wireless party speaker

Yes, it looks just plain odd, but this is Grundig's very affordable GUSW5000 wireless speaker system, yours for a few pennies under £100 from Tesco.

It uses a 20w amplifier and a driver to give a 360degree spread of sound, and is said to have a 50m range – enough to take music to any room in your house, or into the garden or onto a patio. Which is fortunate, since it looks like some kind of futuristic patio heater!

It runs on eight D size batteries or an AC adapter, and the transmitter connects to any device with a line-out feed – so that means hi-fi systems or even an MP3 player. Blue illumination is built-in, and the unit's splashproof for the British summer.
