NEWS: Boston debuts its first iPod dock

This is the £170 Duo-i, the first i-Pod dock from Boston Acoustics. It comes complete with a built-in radio, has a soft-touch cabinet and can be customised with a range of coloured speaker grilles, as part of the Boston Personal Option Plan programme.

The Duo-i also has dual alarm clocks and soft backlighting, with automatic adjustment for ambient lighting, making it perfect for the bedroom. Using Apple Universal iPod Dock inserts it will play and charge all iPods except the Shuffle models, and it also supports video from the iPod Classic and iPhone, which can be output via a composite terminal to the rear.

The radio has 10 FM presets and 5 AM, and the Duo-i uses two 8.9cm speakers in their own enclosures, with the company's Bass Trac system giving clearer bass at low volume settings.

The power supply is built-in, and the unit is designed to retain time and preset information even if there's a power cut. There's also a magnetic remote control, designed to be stored on the unit or stuck to metal surfaces.

The main cabinet comes in Midnight (black) or Mist Cream (white), and the optional POP grilles - those in the picture are Chilli Pepper Red - cost £15. Colours available include Glacier (light blue), Rosebud (pink) and Spanish Moss (light green).
