Aavara PCE122: 1080p up to 120m

New from Keene Electronics is an HDMI transmission system capable of sending 1080p video and 7.1-channel sound over distances as great as 120m, using inexpensive RG6U coaxial cable.

The £400 Aavara PCE122 combines a transmitter and receiver pair, and up to four extra receivers can be cascaded to deliver 1080p/7.1 to TVs as far as 600m away.

In addition, twin outputs from the transmitter unit mean up to 10 TVs can be fed simultaneously.

Alternatively the system supports 720p video at up to 230m, and it's all done over relatively inexpensive coaxial cable with BNC connectors.

For example, Keene can supply a 10.6m cable for under £11, and a 22.9m cable will leave you change from £19.

The system is available now from Keene Electronics' online shop.

It offers 120m at 1080p (50m via CAT6), 7.1ch audio, cascadable outputs for one-to-many (600m max), and can be retro fitted to some existing coax installations so yes there are advantages over CAT5/6 baluns. 400 is the full inc VAT end user retail price excluding trade installer discounts.

Seems very expensive compared to the CAT6 equivalent. Below is one for 170 quid, are there benefits to the coaxial solution? It seems the cable is cheaper, but surely not 230 cheaper?
