Digital edition of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision available now, from £2.99 + VAT

3 May 2013

The June 2013 issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision is now available as a digital edition, either through iTunes/Apple Newsstand or Zinio.

After 36 years as a printed magazine, we are now also available to read on your PC, Mac, iPad or Android device – wherever you are in the world.

With easy to use, helpful features – such as active website links, quick navigation, simple zoom/scroll and embedded videos (on Newsstand) – you're getting more than just an online copy of each issue.

There are two options. To get your digital edition through Apple Newsstand, just go to the Apple app store and download the free What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision app.

Single issues cost £3.99 each. A three month subscription is £8.99, six months £17.99 and one year £34.99. Further details here.

Alternatively, you can subscribe through Zinio (£29.16 + VAT for 13 issues) or buy a single issue (£2.99 + VAT) by clicking on this link.

To find out how to get hold of it, read our comprehensive blog with full instructions.

Hi people

I would like to buy a past issue, but the link is only for the current issue, How can I do that?, cheers from Chile

Hi Richard, I'm not sure if you can convert your existing magazine subscription directly to a digital one, but the best thing is to call our subscription dept on 0844 848 8813 on Monday morning and discuss it with them. Details of how to get the digital issue on Apple Newsstand for your iPad can be found here.

Hi there,

I have a subscription to the printed mag. Are there instructions on how I can convert this subscription to now receive it on my ipad

Many thanks,

Richard.

Update: I tried to purchase by using iPad Zinio app and it worked like a charm!

I am in Croatia.

Thanks,

B

AFAIK, the digital mag should be available in any country, after all that's the whole point so overseas subscribers can get it at the same time as UK readers. I'll flag this up to our subscription dept. Which country are you in?

Hi Andy,

This link was OK in my case as well, but on the bottom right hand side when I try to log in (already have an account), I am sent to a page not found. Even when I'm logged in and try to search "What HIFI" I only get French issues listed. Could it be the case that WhatHIFI digital is not available for non-UK residents? I don't remember anymore was there country selection an input during Zinio registration.

Br,

B

Hi Bresho, I just tested the link and it worked fine. Here's the direct URL to take you to the order page, maybe try that:

https://www.zinio.com/checkout/publisher/?productId=500626440&offer=5003...

Well, it says on Zinio page not found when I try to purchase...any clue?

I'm assured there are ongoing discussions about offering 'hybrid' subscription packages giving both the print and digital versions. No firm news as yet, though.

Something else to consider...

How about making the digital version available for free to those like me who subscribe to the printed version?

Both options being considered, but can't put a definite date on it yet.

When is What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision releasing an iPhone app or being made available for subscribtion  in the app store newsstand?

Indeed, like other Zinio magazines

No, not really.

We are examining all platforms - meantime you can read the magazine on portable devices.

That's a fairly bizarre statement.

Not much use on a kindle ebook reader then.

When are publishers going to realise i dont want to read on a computer screen but on e-ink so it doesnt burn holes in my retina?

It's the way Zinio prices, given that its digital products are available to a wide range of countries. It adds on whatever tax is relevant to the country where the purchaser resides.

Philbz, if you zoom in on the Smart TV ad it's perfectly legible, but admittedly the type could be sharper. However, this is an advertisement feature so the PDF was supplied directly to us by the advertiser and it's not something we have any control over.

Are you sure about this as I have deleted and restored and the pages look exactly the same!

The advertising feature on smart TV is still not readable.

All PDFs have now been re-uploaded and if you delete and restore your digital edition, it will be as crisp as can be!

Apologies for that: we have had conversations with Zinio and have resubmitted the PDFs of the magazine to be re-uploaded. We don't know what's gone wrong, as PDFs are in the same format as July's, so we're waiting to see whether re-uploading them will cure the problem.

Hi there,

The Aug digital edition seems to be unreadable on my Ipad1 and Ipad2. The fonts are horrible! i've got a feeling they scan it on a lowest resolutions setting. Did feedback to Zinio but to no avail.

Fyi, previous month issue are ok.

Thanks

No, it's not a bug - just that Zinio titles are only slowly being rolled out onto iPhone. As a title new to the platform, we're not there yet.

Hi, the magazine are not available on Iphone, even when there's some advertisment on Zino's web site... Is this a bug?

Some new Android devices come preloaded with the Zinio App, which will soon be more widely available, as we explain in our comprehensive blog.

Hi, you're saying this is available on Android, but I can't find anything about Android on the Zinio website, am I being stupid and missing something?
