Britain has more high-definition TVs per capita than any other country in Europe, but fewer than in the US and Canada, according to the latest research from industry regulator Ofcom.
The International Communications Market report also found that digital television is spreading faster in Britain than in France, Canada, the US, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Around 86 per cent of UK homes can now receive digital TV on their main set, while 30 per cent have Freeview digital TV video recorders.
What's more, Ofcom says British consumers pay less than those in other countries for TV, mobile phones and broadband.
