Best Buy: now on Facebook

Following on from the launch of its online store earlier this month, Best Buy is now adding a Facebook shop to its UK portfolio.

Facebook users will be able to view thousands of technology products on the Best Buy Facebook page without having to leave the popular social networking site.

The site will enable customers to search by product category, including TVs, laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras and more.

There will also be recommended Christmas gift lists for 'him' and 'her', updated daily.

Best Buy claims it is the first technology retailer in the UK to run a navigable shop on Facebook before clicking through to buy on the company's retail website.

To celebrate the opening of its new online store, Best Buy has some "Grand Opening Deals" starting from today and running until midnight on November 22nd. They're only available online, not in store.

For example, there's a Toshiba 32KV500 32in LCD TV for £229.99 and a Samsung UE37C5800 LCD/LED Full HD set for £599.99, while stocks last. Full details here.

Got to say not impressed at all !they had a great deal on the foxsat @£100 each which two friends ordered yesterday one friend has been told this morning that they have cancelled his order

 Wow that’s a great opening deal   !  NOT !

I feel a bit embarrassed having bigged up best buy

Got a Best Buy catalogue through the letterbox the other day, and their prices didn't seem at all competitive. Their Sony 370 bluray was at least £20 dearer than Amazon. Check carefully before buying.

alexisno2 - we haven't received a penny from Best Buy. It's a story we felt would be of genuine interest to our readers, many/most of which are looking to buy new kit.

We cover stories on a range of retailers - new store openings; sales offers etc - regardless of whether they are advertisers or not.

How much are Best Buy paying for all this promotion on your site?

I was exited to see the on-line shop, but after browsing, stuff seems to be very expensive compaired to other on-line shops, eg. WD TV Live for 100.00 this can be had for 80.00 in most places. Blu-ray's are expensive and so are DVD's. Seems as though we have another currys or pc world on our hands.

It seem, bbaltom, that many online users rarely leave Facebook - so Best Buy are letting them browse from within that 'comfort zone'...

Am I the only one who is struggling to see the point of this?
