BBC HD sound

Just watching the 'Joseph' semi-final on BBC HD, and the sound is seriously horrid. Phasey and nasty, even though it claims to be Dolby Digital 5.1. Anyone else having the same problem?

Mind you, to their credit the new Dimblebubby Building of Britain thing last night looked just stunning in HD, with all that aerial photography and stuff.

Re: BBC HD sound

I've found it really varies, depending on broadcast. What's more gobsmacking is that so much BBC output still isn't HD (Doctor Who springs immediately to mind), yet Last of the Summer Wine is. Yes, really. Guess it's got an export market to the US? Another HD sound issue to listen out for is that on Sky Anytime - sometimes the programmes listed as from Sky One HD etc have inferior sound to the actual shows when broadcast/recorded. Definitely the case on 24....

Yes, the BBC's choice of what it does and doesn't film in HD does seem a bit odd. The likes of Lilies and Last of the Summer Wine are in HD but not Dr Who and Ray Mears' recent programmes, which would look great in HD.

Re: BBC HD sound

For me the big one is Top Gear. All those amazing shots of sexy cars driving some of the most amazing roads in europe. And the soundtrack too, to have that in DD 5.1 would be amazing! There should be an online petition or something. In fact I might start one...

"Cold?"
"Nope, just really small...."

Fifth Gear in HD/5.1 would be good too. But then we'd all have to have supertweeters to handle VB-H's near-orgasmic squeaks and shrieks...

I think I might make a CD of the afore mentioned VB-H's squeaks, it certainly works for me. Now where can I get these supertweeters.
