Kashfia is the Hi-Fi and Audio Editor of What Hi-Fi? and first joined the brand over 10 years ago. During her time in the consumer tech industry, she has reviewed hundreds of products, been to countless trade shows across the world and fallen in love with hi-fi kit much bigger than her. In her spare time, Kash can be found catching up with TV shows, tending to an ever-growing houseplant collection and hanging out with her cat Jolene.

Tom Parsons

How we test

What Hi-Fi? test rooms

We have state-of-the-art testing facilities in Reading and Bath, where our experienced reviewers put more kit through its paces than any other brand. We can, and do, handle anything from the smallest portable speaker to the largest home cinema system. We’re the only brand in the UK to have a dedicated team of in-house reviewers delivering all of our reviews, all working in the same acoustically-treated listening rooms.

You can find out more about how we test and review products on What Hi-Fi?, as well as what kit is in our test room reference systems.

Why trust us?

The products we cover, test and place in our buying guides are chosen by nobody but our experienced team of reviewers and Editors. The content of our editorial articles is entirely independent and no ratings or recommendations have been paid for. Our ratings and verdicts are reached in our dedicated suite of test rooms and are always discussed and agreed upon by at least two members of the review team.

Our editorial independence is backed by the weight of one of the world's largest technology publishers, Future PLC, which means we can give our honest opinion of a product or technology, without compromise.

We sometimes go on press trips and attend events to see products, in order to bring you instant coverage. It never affects our judgement or the way we write about a product, but it can sometimes be the only way we are able to bring you timely coverage of a new product, device or service.

For our reviews, we predominantly use a company's loan programme. Again, we do not pull any punches in our reviews and the readers are always at the forefront of our minds when testing - we only give star ratings to products that are representative of what you'll be able to buy and this is often the only way to secure products in a timely manner so you can have our unbiased verdict and make an informed buying decision.

We always return products at the request of the brand or at the end of the agreed loan period.

Sponsored content

If you see the word 'Promoted' or 'Sponsored' in a headline it means one of the following things:

'Promoted content' is paid for and provided by an advertiser but is content that we believe is relevant to and of interest to our readers, and is written in the style of What Hi-Fi? It is not written by the editorial team.

'Sponsored content' is commercially supported by a third-party sponsor but is written by our own editorial team and may not include sponsor sign-off on the content or a direct product message.

Affiliate & Advertising disclosure

We always aim to provide unbiased editorial created by our journalists and writers. We also need to pay our teams and website costs so we make money in a number of ways. We sometimes use affiliate links to products and services on retailer sites for which we can receive compensation if you click on those links or make purchases through them. From time to time we also publish advertorials (paid-for editorial content) and sponsored content on the site. When this is the case the content is clearly marked as sponsored or promoted, so you’ll always know which content is editorial and which is not. Future PLC is our parent company and has an in-depth terms and conditions page with a lot more information that you can read right here
