this is it. i'm done.
fast eddie:How can you tell????
THE_FORCE:Craig what wide angle lens are you getting ? Also what do you shoot with ? Looking at the pics, I'd hazard a guess at Nikon.
Lol. Well if it was Canon, then the colours would be slightly over-saturated. It's hard to explain - but after shooting Nikon myself for a while, you can just tell from images that have had little or no post-processing, which Craig's appear to be.
Geeky eh ?!
Nice pics.
Lovely system Craig.
I really, really like that Dac.
MattSPL:Lovely system Craig.
I really, really like that Dac.
cheers Matt, the chord dac is bloody fantastic! was listening to spotify earlier bluetoothed from my ipod touch - welcome to the 21st century.
Hi Craig, loving your system!
For years I had a budget system and have just upgraded everything. (see footer) I'm loving the ATCs.
What format are you ripping your CDs to your mac mini to?
hi DaveyBoy, my files are a mixture of alac and aiff. i started with alac and switched to see if i could hear any difference - i didn't but didn't switch back as i don't think there is any danger of filling the hdd's, and i couldn't be bothered to put the telly on so i could switch back.
Thanks Craig,
I have decided to start ripping my files to alac. (apple lossless) I think. I have decided this because they will play on my ipod and Media Monkey whereas the FLAC files would have to be transcoded down to MP3 for the ipod and would not play on any other Apple based system.
I ripped my first CD to alac today and I have to say, I'm very impressed with the sound! It also means I can use my ipod touch to control my itunes. Hopefully in the future I will be able to afford either a macbook or a mac mini and then remortgage to purchase myself a Chord QBD76. Ha ha.
God, I would buy that DAC, just for the way it looks, had no idea the you could get it in chrome.
I also think its gonna save you money because there is no reason to buy any mirrors.
Wow! That is sweet looking. I'd never be able to keep it clean between the cats, dogs and always open windows. Sure looks great though.
According to Chord - the unit is not chromed, but hand polished so much, the aluminium looks chromed. Don't ask about the jet black finish - that looks more extreme.
Out of interest, am heading down the QBD route and wanted to know how you demo'd the unit as they are not in stock in most places.
hey joe, (where you goin with that gun in your hand?)
the brilliant silver is indeed hand polished aluminium, which is then nickel plated.
i demoed and bought mine at Musicraft in Derby. Rick's a good guy, and i'd recommend.
i have no idea what most of that stuff is , but boy does it look good ![]()
Hi Craig....
Delicious looking kit you now have. Can you help me please?....
I have the same kit you started with...the 640 combo and 9.1's.
I am getting some sibilance which is just enough to annoy at times. Some cd's are worse than others but it is definitely there. I use direct on the amp and have copper cable around £2/meter with a £20 CA interconnect.
Do you think I have faults in my amp/cdp?
Do you think upgrading the cables/inter. will solve the problem?
Many thanks
Mike
Hi Craig
Hoping you might be about to give me an idea on the sibilance thing![]()
Did you have the same or similar listening experience with this kit?
Cheers
Mike
