RE: System Evolution from TV to PJ!

I recently decided to add a PJ into my AV system and thought rather than bore you all with loads of text I post a few pics of how it did look and my DIY journey to how it is now:grin:

Right this is how it did look originaly with the Plaz set in the window Bay(this is  a old pic and most of the equipment has changed since)

I decided that in order to install a PJ and screen I would have to turn the room around and put the 50"plaz onto the wall and have the screen come down infront of the plaz so out with my DIY tools!

In the next pic you can see where I've marked out the rough size of the screen but that Radiator is going to have to go!

Next the rad has gone and I've channeled a cable path into the wall to hide all cables and make it easy to change any cables in the future.

New plug sockets were run as well and a quick coat of plaster to the walland celing.

HDMI and speaker cables were run to the PJ end of the room and I planed to install speakers into the celing at the PJ end to neaten things up rather than use my current KEF iQ3's on stands for the rear channels so time to cut some holes!

A few coats of paint later it was time to start instaling the Equipment!first I wall mounted the Plaz so that I could measure how far the Plaz came out from the wall so I could make a mount for the screen so it would clear the plaz and also hide the electrics for the screen.

Finally install every thing! so up with the Plaz

Up with the new Epson EH-TW6000W and celing speakers!

And finally re-install my KEF's at the front end Amp etc, drop the screen down and watch a movie!beauty, eh

Brilliant and very satisfying to have the confidence to launch into such a project...and get such a satisfying result.

I see you have IQ9s and 6c (I think)....what are you driving them with?

Great job

Cno

Yes iQ9s but a iQ60c as had a problem with my iQ6c which was swapped under warrantry. I use my old trusty Yamaha RXV3600 to drive the system with SkyHD 1TB and a Panasonic BDT500 which I chose as needed a 3D BD player with multi-channel outs due to the age of my AVR.

I think there is far more satisfaction in doing something yourself over having a team of profesional instalers come in and do it. I know exactly where every wire was run, what every switch does etc so if ever I do encounter a problem I can address it easily. I'd never had a PJ before and doing the instalation myself helped Me learn about throw distance and positioning of the PJ etc.party time!

I used to have IQ9s + IQ6c + IQ dipoles with Arcam AVR350. Worked well with a mixture of HT and music, and I think the IQs match best with smoother sounding amps like Arcam/Yamaha/Denon. IMO The IQ9s were often under-rated for their 2 channel ability.

Thx for the info

Cno
