My evolving system so far...
My humble setup from before university until now
First was the Marantz pm4000 and eltax monitor III's, speaker cable was Gale's XL315

Using my cruddy laptop base hear as source, poor quality audio looking back, but now Mission m35's

Then upgraded the amp to a Nad C350, speaker cables QED XT300, new computer using X-fi music and chords ichord 3.5mm to rca dramatically improved the audio.

Then changed the old missions to Quad 11L2's, lovely speakers, but did not have the bass extension that I often missed.
Decided
a major overhaul was needed. Replaced Quads with Acoustic Energy Neo
3's and the original Roksan Kandy KA-1 and KC-1 (mark I's). Great
system.

My
current setup, waiting on the funds for the matching Yamaha CD-S1000.
Now I own B&W CM7's in maple, Yamaha A-S1000 amp, upgraded speaker
cables, Chord Odyssey 2. Mains conditioned now by Tacima

My
humble setup, I know the listening position is not ideal, and the setup
is not perfect but im so happy with the improvements I have made, its
an addictive hobby. Next up after the cd player will be an upgraded
comp and LCD widescreen

From tower speakers to shelf...how do the mission compare with the AE?
The missions were bass powerhouses, but lacked real excitement otherwise, the AE were good alrounders, classier tweeters, and more control over 2 channel stereo. The Mission M35s were good at portraying home cinema despite only 2 channel, they had real impact in explosion scenes etc.

Very nice!
