So after years as a plasma pusher, I've now defected to the LED camp (sorry for mediocre pictures)...
So...the upgrade path conundrum as usual... My system is geared for clarity, dynamics, tonal accuracy and ruler flat response ; a 'warts and all' presentation... I'm using Cyrus CD6SE front end, Nordost Red Dawn throughout, AVI S21 Mi Integration Amp, IsoTek Sigmas GII Mains conditioner, REL StrataIII and Stadium III SubBass systems together, and ATC SCM19's. THE QUESTION THEN : How best to I spend £5K on an upgrade? do I buy a single component and if so what??? or apportion £5K across a couple of items? What is the weak link in my kit?!!!
hi all and thanks for all the possitive coments
As you may see from the pics my room isnt that big 11ft 6 x20ft, and i sit about 11 ft away from the speaker that are 6ft 6 apart,
and 50 inches from the rear wall .
I feel now the most i will have to do for some time is replase the media stand for something more in keepinh with the system .
Aurum Cantus Volla speakers + Track Audio Stands Connected with Townshend Isolda Bi wired .
Third time lucky with getting this post to stay visible!
Here's a shot of the front of myset up. Pretty much a 'work in progress' at present, as I'm still tweaking position, etc.
No shot of the rears as yet.
Seems a bit spacey in the room, but I am still awaiting the new couch...
I'm waiting on some legs (same as base unit) to go under the centre speaker, to raise it and cover the sockets on the wall.
Well it started out with a new TV (Samsung UE46F800) which Mrs Ayjaycee and I bought as a Christmas present for ourselves. That started the itch for further updating and led to new AVR (Marantz NR1604) and Blu Ray Player (Sony BDP-S790). I don't think that I need to change anything else (for now) as it all looks and sounds alright to me - even the Mrs comments on how much better it is all round.
I put together a diagram of all the connectivity in my living room so I could easily manage additions or changes to the setup. It turns out it looks pretty complex. How complicated is yours? Or do you strive for complete simplicity and only have the minimum possible components? (You may have to right click and view image to see it in full)
Here's my diagram:
