At last... I'm in the high end
I've always been into audio equipment. I get that from my Dad (RIP) and after 15 years I've finally got there. Well, I haven't finished yet. Half the fun with our hobby is the constant upgrade. This week I've got cables to go through. Transparent Audio, Nordost, Siltech, XLO. I can't remember what else the dealer is bringing over but I'm really looking forward to it all. Finally my system has the resolution that will really high light the differences.
Anyway, my system is...
Wadia 16 Transparent Audio Super XLR
Krell KMA160 Mono blocks Transparent Audio Musicwave
Apogee Caliper Signature Completely rebuilt/reconditioned
Each component has a mains lead going from it (in the music room which is a converted bedroom) all the way to a dedicated spur in the fuse box.
After the cables I'm auditioning this week I'll be looking to upgrading the mains cables (I cut out a channel in the wall but created a channel before plastering over so cables can literally be pulled through to change them) and a new cd player. Well, 2nd hand like everything else...
And don't forget the Coldplay, Phil Collins & Simply Red albums. High end system needs high end music.
I still have my Audio Research pre but prefer running direct. The bass could be better although since rebuilding the speakers it has really improved. Some records leave you wanting more but then on others its to die for...!?! I have found commercial recordings to be the worst offenders. My fave at the moment being sheffield labs kodo drummers. The walls shake and they sound like they are all the way over in next doors house. Great imaging like nothing I've had before!!!!!
Now I am having waves of nostalgia - I remember audio reviewers banging on (if you'll pardon the pun) about the Sheffield Kodo disc back in the mid-1980s.

Your gears does bring back some memories! read like they should gel well if lack a bit of bass welly. I would get a dedicated pre amp rather than used the Wadia varible out put too. Nice system by the way
