Xmas Present Shopping Problems........Please Help :)

For xmas I need to buy a set of headphones for my father who can't hear the tv very well. The only catch is whilst he is watching the tv, so are we. What i'm looking for is a set of wifi headphones that can be used but without stopping the sound coming from the tv (so we can all still hear it) Also the headphones would need to have an independant volume control. Can anyone help. does such a thing exsist?
maybe some kind of, l and r phono to headphone jack converter would work
what other kind of audio outputs does the set have?
