Squeezebox Touch problem

A friend just bought an SBT for his wife for her birthday, and plugged it in today and the screen won't light up, though power appears to be working.  Is he missing something or is it most likely just dead and needs to go back to the shop?

unplug and re plug?

 

might be a bug booting up.

 

If it does not change then yes back to the shop.
