i have seen the squeezebox duet (controler and 1 receiver) for sale in a dealer near me for £119.99 is this a bargan as the cheapest i have seen it up to now is around the £180 mark.
I would say it definitely is yes. An easy and convenient way to get music from your computer. I found it to be good without an external DAC. Now I have it attached to a Rega DAC it's fantastic.
i got mine for £120 from newcastle-currys in the last 2 months and its unreal for the money.
i ripped all my 255 cds in flac using eac and get all the artwork from there, put them into a folder called squeezebox music on the desktop- downloaded the squeezebox server on my laptop- connected my hub wireless to my reciever and handset-my laptop sits under the stairs and is on 24/7 and in the server settings select the folder for the handset to pick up.
i then played around with that and it had no problems with artwork or anything class.
i then went to server settings and selected spotify 3rd party app and bbc iplayer added them to favs
i have also added talksport to favs and it is lighting fast when going between stations and music. you even keep pressing add from spotify and my music tracks and create playlists.
If someone took it away and i have to rebuy for £200 i would. enjoy.
plus any problems the squeezebox forums are a great help
