Hi all,

In the May issue, I read about the PowerLine network via existing power cable around the house. Does this work in any type of house or any type of power cabling ie. Will it work in Malaysia for instant?

If yes, which model would you recommend. Requirement is quite simple:

1. My wifi router is in the living hall downstairs
2. I need an 2 ethernet cables for the upper floor because the wifi signal is not strong enough. Need one for my laptop in my hifi room and the other one is for my LED TV both on the upper floor.

Can the PowerLine be used via an extension cable ie: a Belkin 8 way extension? Or it needs to be plugged direct to the wall socket?

Appreciate any feedback.

The one I use is a Panasonic equivalent and it specifies that you should plug it in direct to the socket and not via an extension. Are you on 220v in Malaysia? I'm sure, if they are selling similar products there, that they will work OK.

Better, if you can, to run a cat5 cable upstairs.

Sorry for the delayed response.

It's a Panasonic BL-PA 100 but as far as I can find out they no longer manufacture it. It wasn't compatible with the Powerline products and so you need to look for one of them, I think

Thanks visionary.

Sorted. I purchased 2 homeplug converters (Edimax brand), and my internet connection on the 2nd floor is really fast now. It worked like magic Smile
