I currently have mine conneted to my Onkyo via HDMI lead.

Is this giving me the best audio quality? or, should i be using an optical lead?

I assume (dangerous game) that using the HDMI lead gives me the use of the Onkyo's Burr Brown DAC's?

saves me having to buy a wadia itransport anyway.

Re: Apple tv

You are correct to connect via HDMI. The optical is there for people who can't connect via HDMI or who's receivers won't take audio via HDMI.

Re: Apple tv

Although both options will use the receivers DAC's.
