Matching Quad ELS 57's with an amp.
Hi,
I am a new boy on the block and in need of some advice please. I have a Naim system which includes a NAP 250, Preamp 82 and the Quad 57's. I recently changed my Naim cables N5 for a set of Audioquest Rocket 88's The sound was A 1 but after some minutes playing the music cut out and the amp was very hot. The upshot of it all was that the Rockets have been returned to AQ for replacement connectors and I'm having the 57's serviced now. If I have to change the Naim system what Amp would suit the ELS's. I like a warm open sound with a strong mid and sweet treble. I have been looking at old Quad 909's and the 33/303 combo. I have also cast an envious eye over The Leben 600- Valve amp-- does anyone own one or heard one?
Thanks in anticipation.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and being so helpful. I have been looking at the 33/303 combo also the 44/909. I have also been looking at the Leben CS600--Valve amp, Japanese.

Never demoed the Quad ESL 57 speakers but have asked a similar question before as I was considering a pair.
Some solid state amps do not like the low impedance of the ESL 57's as they can go very low, about 1ohm I think.
I have a Quad 44/303 combo with Quad 21L2 speakers - they sound amazing.
The 303 amp should work as well as other Quad amps.
Bare in mind that the 33/303 amps will be very old and will likely need a service.
Quad still service them. Factoring in buying second hand & servicing they are still good value (in my opinion).
