Is it worth fixing my Pioneer Plasma TV PDP434PE.
English

:help: I have sound but no picture. Have been told that it is probably a Power Supply problem, but may also turn out to be something else.

Initial cost of this is £500 (!) may be  more if something else is found faulty. My set is about 10 years old  now.

Should I go ahead as it is a wonderful tv, and if not, what would you suggest as an equal new replacement?

All advice will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks and kind regards.

It's not economical to repair unfortunately. What's your budget for a new TV?

Check these, for example:

Thank you for the advice.

I can go up to £1500, I don't want too many bells and whistles, just a great picture and sound.

It may be the right time now to look at tvs as manufactures bring out their new batch (2014) of tvs, what i will say is if you buy a new tv maks sure you know if it's a 2013 or a 2014 model.

Thank you for your advice. I'm still open to ideas....I'm not sure that I want a smart tv or 3D.

I've read that Pioneer are re-introducing their t.v.sales into the Scandinavian countries, but the UK is not till next year.....but timing for me

1) All good TVs today will have 3D and smart features. Simply don't use it. In fact, requirement for 3D actually helps 2D picture quality as well.

2) Pioneer themselves have stopped making TVs. They've merely licensed the name to a Chinese company. So they're not true Pioneer TVs. Currys will have them shortly.

The Pioneer TVs are rebranded Thomson W6 series TVs, manufactured by Chinese firm TCL.
