hello all, a little advice please

hello to all you fine people  don't know why i've never joined this forum before  anyhow's i'm after a little advice. i have recently brought some fanny wang 3003 headphones to use with my i-pod and while they are very good ( well to my ear's) when plugged into the headphone socket on my a/v amp (sherwood rd 6106) there is alot of noise like hissing inbetween tracks, hope that all makes sence and any advice would be very welcome 

would a seperate headphone amp or different cable be of any use
