I have no problem with psychologically scarring. The most disturbing thing I've seen recently is Snowtown, it deals superbly with the inexplicable.

I like the heading of one of the reviews on Amazon. "Not a date movie".

Sounds interesting.

I could be tempted into putting that on my list of three, it's one of the relatively few blu rays I've bought in the last year.

Did you come up with a date by which your selection has to be watched?

By the 15th of October I suppose, but the sooner the better, then we can move on to the next set of movies.

I'm watching it now.

Ok, cool. I'll leave it top of my lovefilm list and should hopefully finish one of my films tonight.

Can you edit the thread title JD? Maybe just delete the last two words?

Just as an aside, who has Lovefilm (or similar) and who doesn't?

I don't have Lovefilm, but I was planning to join, because the monthly membership fee is cheaper than buying the DVDs.

I don't have Lovefilm, but I think I can get it via my Wii, and I can get Netflix through my BDP and TV.

My point being that on some occasions we could pass a film around between a few of us. I just bought it (its not on iTunes or Virgin Media On Demand) but could watch it early and post it on to others rather than them buying it or joining a service specially.

I think 2 of our members are not in the UK, but that could work with the rest of us.

If Strapped would like my DVD, I'll post it off to him, I would like it back though.  :)

The on demand choices are pretty limited (I think about four of my list of four hundred are available, although strangely kne of them is the mad monkey), so I'd say JD's idea is a good one. Of course, if you get strapped's address you'd forever be able to extort him under threat of disclosing it to cloverfield.

Tbh if you you find yourself buying a number of discs that you don't rewatch, then lovefilm makes financial sense.

i've no on line film service, but i can by a new dvd or second hand, no biggie.

I can only watch the winning film next week, as i'm going to be out all week.

The only kind of movies that i don't like (and will not see, is terror movies, not my cup of tea) other than that i'll be all right!

And yes, i'm not from the UK, but if some one want to send me a DVD to wacth, for sure i'll send it back, posts to Portugal are not so expensive, and a DVDs are lightweight and there are some nice cuddly envelopes from post office to ship them arround.

I think they already secretly send xmas and birthday cards to each other, so nothing to be gained there.  :)

Netflix would be a little easier for me to use, and from what I've read, there's little difference between the two. I've checked a few titles out for availability on Lovefilm's site, but I don't seem to be able to check Netflix's catalogue.

Do you mean Horror films?

I won't be recommending any horror films, but I might suggest some films that contain some scenes of violence and torture, that may be psychologically quite disturbing, rather than straight forward scare you horror.

I'll warn you if I do.
