The perfect pop record

For those whose musical education began (and sometimes ended) with pop music, there's usually one standout record - great tune with lyrics you can personally relate to sung by a credible artist or artists which when you hear it on the radio immediately transports you back to when you first heard it. Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison does it for me.

My Boy Lollipop.  Millie Small.

Still a favourite with our two daughters even though they are both in their twenties now ...

Wonderwall.  Mike Flowers Pops.

If for no other reason than it reached #2 in the Christmas 1995 chart equalling the highest chart position of the Oasis version.

For me it is Bedsitter by Soft Cell. That song summed up how my life was in the very early 2000's perfectly.

Sony 808 ES Amplifer, PSB imagine B bookshelf speakers, Pro-ject debut carbon turntable, Audiolab 8200 CD player, Atlas cables, Partington super dreadnought speakerstands and Quadraspire Q4EVO hi-fi rack.

`Bringing On Back The Good Times` by the Love Affair is a pretty decent pop record I`d say.
