I like OMD, so maybe it's me that hasn't dated too well.

I am a Punk fan and have a lot of rare vinyl, mostly 7", in the loft. I get it out from time to time to enjoy a bit of nostalgia and to educate my son about DIY music  as opposed to XFactor music. I can tell you that a lot of this has dated very poorly and is sometimes unlistenable-Grimace. Nontheless it is still worth a listen.

In van I've got XTC 'Best of' and that sounds pretty awesome.

' English Settlement' is a gem. One of the (very) few albums that I enjoy all the way through.

Cheers, may have a look for a copy. Very good group.

Agreed: There are some you think is a great song because of nostalgia but does sound a little dated.

Perfect example of that Little Eva's 'The Locomotion'. When you watch the live video you expect to see Pathe Newsreel come up.  Fabulous early dance floor song, nonetheless.

Music is like people, some age very well, some age too fast... Funny you've pull this subject PP, because just the other day i was listening to Peter Murphy, The Velvet underground, Lloyd Cole and thinking to myself how actual they still were...

"Dated", what does that mean exactly? Of it's time? I think some of those "dated" tunes are more a reflection of their productions. Stick an accoustic guitar in front of some of those old tunes, and they come to life.

Alessandro Moreschi's recordings haven't weathered too well. He was the last Castrato, but even given the technical and material recording limitations, he still comes across as a bit of a screacher.

No! +1.  I still love Magnum! One of England`s most underrated groups I`d say.  Whenever people discuss all the great bands to come out of Birmingham through the years I always mention Magnum. And they sing about  Elves far less than you think!   Smile

That "Eurodance" stuff from the early 90s. Argh!  Smile  Also most things from S.A.W. ...

Well said. And let`s be honest, it`s not just that it sounds dated it was rubbish to begin with. Bad days.
