Covers of Bowie songs never

Covers of Bowie songs never seem to work (apart from the Seu Jorge reworkings which aren't technically covers), but here are a couple that are sufficiently different to the orginals:

Aztec Camera, or Roddy Frame does a cracking live cover version of Van Halen's 'Jump'. I've got it on the 12" (b-side) of 'Somewhere In My Heart'. Awesome cover, but can't find the live version on Yooouplay.

Here's the ordinary (studio) version.

Peter Gabriel's cover of The Boy in the Bubble (Paul Simon)from the album Scratch my Back

A darker, slower version than the original; the lyrics seem to have more meaning appear more threatening.

I enjoy Stevie Nick's version of just like a woman, but wouldn't say it was better. Think it would have to be The Fugees Killing me Softy as my fav cover.

Toots and the Maytals' version of the John Denver classic '(Take me home) Country Roads'.

Country Roads

Never heard that, but their version of Louie Louie is fantastic, and if you get the chance to see them live, they are awesome.

Not sure if it's strictly better than the original, but this cover of 46 and 2 is pretty amazing.

Not sure if it's already been said as I haven't read the whole thread, but what about Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Born To Run.

Go listen!

3.

I'd rather have a Tabasco enema than have to listen to that whiney screeching voice any more.

"Who gave a xxxx what Frankie said?"
