Hi Everyone

I've had my current LG 42" TV for 5 or 6 years now, its served us well but is developing a habit of the picture turning off and the TV freezes, the power then needs turning off to reset it.  So its coming up for replacement time.

I'm not looking for anything fancy and I don't need 3D.  Full HD is a must and so is the ability to connect to my NAS so I can stream the films stored on it.  I would like it to have reasonable sound quality, but when we watch a film I play it through the Hifi anyway, so great SQ is not necesary.

This LG is £399 at Richer Sounds and I think ticks the right boxes and is about the price I want to spend.

What do you think of this and are there any alternatives I should consider?

Many thanks for your advice

Rob

The LG hasn't got freeview HD so you are going to miss out on a lot of HD programs, if i were buying i would go for either a sony or panasonic, have a look here at pricerunner.

Thanks, I hadn't even considered Freeview HD.  Currently we use Virgin, but only the basic package, but I think its worth future proofing.

Now also considering Panasonic VIERA TX-L42E5B

My dad just got the Panasonic TX-P42X50 for £330 including 5 year warranty.

It's an excellent tv for the money, but is 'only' HD ready..........which from a sensible distance will not be a massive problem in my opinion.

The 50" version is only £460 and is favourably reviewed in the latest mag!
