A few years ago they were really slim and puny now they look like they have put on a bit of weight.
Have they? This is Samsung UE65HU7500:
OLED TVs are impossibly thin:
I can't remember the model number but a few years ago samsung had one tv that was super slim about 10-12mm thick.
Retailers were getting lots of customer returns on those super-slim Samsung edge LED TVs due to uneven backlight, so the Korean manufacturer had to do something.
They increased the chassis depth, and relocated the heat-generating components on the panel into as small a surface area as possible. And it worked - since last year, Samsung's midrange and high-end LED TVs consistently have better uniformity than the competition.
Thanks for the info vincent i didn't know that.
No problem, not many people know that either.
