What 40" ish TV ?

Hi,
I am considering replacing my 32" Sony tv with a 40-42" within the next few months.

I would like another Sony to match my Blu ray system but the 42W653 only comes with 2 hdmi connectors. I need the third for an Xbox 360. Could I split one of the hdmi`s into 2, would this degrade the quality ?

The other option is to look at a Samsung, but which model ?
I don`t need loads of apps, 3d - just a tv with good picture & sound quality.

RE: Sound like you need a a/v amp

I am not really looking for an a/v amp. I don`t want my tv stand weighed down with all these boxes.

I had a chance to look around yesterday & I guess all tv`s now come with Smart features.
Does higher processing rates produce better pictures ? Is 100 Hz good enough ?

So far I have narrowed it down to the Samsung 40F6400 so will seek out some reviews.

Hello kev g, You need something like this from Lindy electronics http://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/switches-c175/hdmi-c176/3-port-hdmi-switch-with-remote-control-p1586
Over the last five years I have bought many things from Lindy - HDMI cables up to 20m, optical cables, HDMI splitters, VGA cables etc. You may also be able to find a similar item from Maplin, you need to ask for an HDMI switch (not splitter). This product from Lindy will give you the three inputs on the switch itself, the output of which would plug into one of the Sony televisions existing two inputs, and you would still have the other Sony input. So you would have four HDMI inputs in all.
I can't comment on the relative merits of the Sony and Samsung televisions, I'm afraid.

This morning I had a look at a few more sets & found some reviews in a cinema magazine. I might end up paying a little more than I planned.

Thanks for the link.
At the moment its a choice between 2, maybe 3 Samsung models
