just spoke to JL. They have no idea when the VT well be coming in if any at all. Also, they had no info on the gt60.... Im now not sure what to do. I was hoping to at least move to the VT, cant stand the thought of going back to the issues of the GT50. ARGH.
Hang in there! I'll be shocked if JL doesn't stock Panasonic plasmas this year and an ST60 is a decent solution.
At the very least they'll have to leave your options open until they can confirm which TVs they're stocking.
Hardware: Panasonic TX-P50VT65B (calibrated); Cambridge Audio Azur 651BD; Yamaha RX-A810; Teac PD-H600; PS3; B&W 601 & 600LCR (series 3); Q Acoustics QAV (rear)
Furniture and Accessories: BLOK Classix 3000 Oak AV Cabinet; Atacama Nexus 6 (atabite metal filled); 3D3 A1112
i was told yesterday by representative that i have as long as i want. I told then i did not want to be pushed in to something that would be second choice. That's something. Just want to sort it as soon as.. I hate having to wait as it just leaves me with a set that has problems..And i can;t enjoy it like that;
update: just got a call from JL, they won't be getting anymore VT sets in. they well be stocking 2013 models soon..but cant say what model yet...hmmmmmmm. . she did add that someone would be going to panasonic tomorrow so we may be able to give a detailed answer then,
Several of us (myself included) are in the same situation with the same retailer.
Just be thankful that you bought from a retailer that looks after its customers. Things could be much worse.
The situation is a pain, but your TV woes should come to an end in the next month or so.
Given the number of customer returns, have JL decided to not stock certain models?
My Home Cinema Pioneer KRP 500A, Yamaha RX-V1900, MA Radius R225HD LCR, R90HD rears, AW12 sub, Panasonic BD60, PS3, Boxee Box, Sky HD, Boxee Box, Logitech Harmony One, Logitech PS3 Adapter, Sonos ZP90
Bedroom Samsung UE32C6510, PS3 slim white, Apple TV, Sonos S5, Sonos ZP90, Audioengine 2, Oppo OPDV971H
Miscellaneous: Synology DS212J + 2 X WD Red 2TB drives, WD 1TB NAS, Sonos ZoneBridge, BT HH3 as modem & AirPort Extreme router
Good point. Thanks for the reminder. They have been very appreciative and cooperative that i will say. WELL DONE JL.. How about samsung? any models out there that are as good as pana?
Cancelled the GT50 exchange and JL have kindly said I can keep in touch over the next few weeks to see when they may get the GT60 and then exchange.....they suggested calling Panasonic to check if/when they may supply JL......
strapped: didn't ask about the STas figured that will be covered when I ask Panasonic.....
John Lewis really is the best place to buy a TV.
How about samsung? any models out there that are as good as pana?
Review here (of the 64-inch version).
His summary of the review is:
"If you’re looking for some of the best 2D and especially 3D pictures around, then you should definitely check out the PS64F8500."
you could hardly blame them if they have - reckon their staff have probably nicknamed the GT50 "The Boomerang"..
Lounge: Panasonic TX-P60ZT65B (calibrated), Pioneer SC-LX75, Denon DPB-2012, Sky-HD1TB, PS4, Xbox 360, Apple-TV, Atacama Equinox AV stand, Monitor Audio Silver RX8, RXC, RX-FX, RXW-12, Anti-Mode 8033c Sub EQ. Kitchen: Pioneer XC-HM81, Monitor Audio Bronze BX2. Bedroom: Samsung UE37D6510, Samsung BD-C5900, Sky-HD, Pioneer N-50, Rotel RC-03 (pre-amp), Rotel RB-9708X (power-amp), Mordaunt-Short MS914
I can think of some other terms to describe the GT50, but "The Boomerang" seems appropriate from a retailer perspective.
All TVs have problems. Panasonic's issues are magnified on forums such as this, as we focus so intently on their plasma TVs. I wonder how many Sony 853s were returned due to DSE, or Samsung plasmas due to brightness pops, floating blacks and 3D frame skipping?
I'm sure JL will stock Panasonic plasmas this year; we just don't know which ones and when.
is the GT60 better then the GT50/VT50..? Imean im i better of going for the GT60 over the VT50.. AS A REPLACEMET FOR MY 50GT50.
Check page 4 of this thread.
Main AV Setup: Panasonic 50VT65 TV (THX calibrated), Pioneer Bdp-lx71, Pioneer Vsx-lx70, B&W FPM Series, B&W PV1, Optimum AV300 AV Stand, QED Silver Anniversary XT Speaker Cable & Chord Silver Plus HDMI Cables. Gadgets: iPad 4 & iPhone 4S.
Thanks for the thorough review team (and for getting it online quickly)!
A couple of things I'd really like to know please.
First, did you spot any issues with screen uniformity, in particular vertical stripes of lighter or darker colour gradation? I'd imagine several forum members are keen to hear about this. If you still have the TV, football or grey slides clearly reveal this problem on many 50 series Panasonics. I'd imagine these would be similarly revealing tests on this year's models.
Second, the dual tuner feature is great, but can you confirm whether timer recording is possible via the EPG? PVR functionality is less effective if you have to stay at home and record manually.
