Just found this:
Dont know who the shop is though.
Main AV Setup: Panasonic 50VT65 TV, Pioneer Bdp-lx71, Pioneer Vsx-lx70, B&W FPM Series, B&W PV1, Optimum AV300 AV Stand, QED Silver Anniversary XT Speaker Cable & Chord Silver Plus HDMI Cables. Gadgets: iPad Air & iPhone 5S
Nice! Thanks Gel.
I'm hoping the price will have dropped to £1,300 by the time JL gets stock. I'd be very tempted by a 50VT65 if it's available for under £1,750.
Hardware: Panasonic TX-P50VT65B (calibrated); Cambridge Audio Azur 651BD; Yamaha RX-A810; Teac PD-H600; PS3; B&W 601 & 600LCR (series 3); Q Acoustics QAV (rear)
Furniture and Accessories: BLOK Classix 3000 Oak AV Cabinet; Atacama Nexus 6 (atabite metal filled); 3D3 A1112
Yes, that was where I found the GT60 for £1350 which I mentioned 3 days ago.
My Home Cinema Pioneer KRP 500A, Yamaha RX-V1900, MA Radius R225HD LCR, R90HD rears, AW12 sub, Panasonic BD60, PS3, Boxee Box, Sky HD, Boxee Box, Logitech Harmony One, Logitech PS3 Adapter, Sonos ZP90
Bedroom Samsung UE32C6510, PS3 slim white, Apple TV, Sonos S5, Sonos ZP90, Audioengine 2, Oppo OPDV971H
Miscellaneous: Synology DS212J + 2 X WD Red 2TB drives, WD 1TB NAS, Sonos ZoneBridge, BT HH3 as modem & AirPort Extreme router
£100 cheaper here!
Can anyone beat that??
At this rate I might be able to do a straight swap! That's great price at this time of year.
Just found this too.
Wow. Things are looking up. For the first time in months I'm optimistic that my TV nightmare will soon be over.
They list the 55ST60 for £1,249 too. I'm assuming JL will price match, as Direct TVs has a showroom.
At least John Lewis Sheffield should, as Direct TVs showroom is based in Huddersfielf (technically, it's still outside the 8-mile radius so JL can refuse to price match).
That's the policy, but JL has been more flexible in my experience. I'm working on the basis that they'll agree to almost anything now, if it'll stop my complaining.
Beyond that I can still get a refund and buy from elsewhere. Given the option I'll definitely stick with JL.
Engineer had come on saturday, he deemed the set faulty and not worth the repair. im hoping JL well offer a refund or something similar to Nick's offer. GT50 ended up costing me £950 so im not sure how much i'll have to put in.. for the VT50..! If anyone can reccomend another Tv maybe...I would prefer not to put in anything extra.. If i was pushed to do so, maybe £200 max.
what store did you find the 50vt50 for £1099?
With a 5 year guarantee. JL has to price match, as we're all within reasonable distance of a Richer Sounds store. Any store with last year's stock will be keen to sell anyway.
FWIW, I'm not remotely interested in the VT50. I'm looking at the GT60 or VT65. Both beat the VT50 in many ways -- deeper blacks, better ANSI contrast (no brightness cap in any picture mode), better processing, no vertical bands (according to everyone that's seen the TVs so far).
You could try a VT50, but I fear you'll be prolonging your agony. If you go the VT50 route, be sure JL will refund or exchange if you're not satisfied.
Thanks for that. that was my concern also regarding vt50. It being or having same issues. when is the gt60 out..?
It's out already. JL is yet to stock it.
if that's all good ill go for that depending on how many decent reviews it gets...
