Strapped glad it all seems to have been sorted for you now and that you have a tv your happy with, even if it cost a little more than you wanted. At least you can sleep well now
bbb i noticed you said you still have ir issues. It's worth bearing in mind that Panasonic confirmed to the engineers working on my tv that a common issue for the gt50 was that the voltage settings were set to high on it, thus causing unwanted ir for users. It was a quick fix for the engineers and one that was resolved easily, just a shame bout my other issues, but that's all detailed on a different thread.
Here's for some happy viewing remedies for all us unhappy gt50 owners
Lounge: Panasonic (faulty but 'within specification') 50GT50, Mico DVD-A980 (multi region), Yamaha RX-V596RDS, Mission M74, M7C and M7DS speakers, Sony CDPXE570, Nintendo WIi, Sony PS3, Humax FOXSAT-HDR,
Conservatory: Panasonic 42G20 and DMP-BD45EBK
How do you remove the pen mark from the screen? I'm going to my local home cinema shop sometime soon, hopefully they have got some new stock.
I haven't got a clue. I might auction the pen on Ebay. I don't think I'd ever use it.
After all the messing around over the last four months, I've now got five pairs of active 3D specs. I might put a couple of pairs up for auction as well.
I'm extremely happy with my system now. It does everything I want to a standard I'm delighted with. The only weak link is the subwoofer; but since I can't use a sub without seriously upsetting neighbours, there's no point in looking for an alternative right now.
In fact, I might auction the subwoofer, too. It's no more than a wooden box that takes up space and is never switched on. The combined take would lessen some of the pain from recent expenditure.
Hope you get to see the new sets in action soon. I'll be interested to hear what you think.
No magic cloth then?

Good point on the IR front. BBB will have to decide whether his GT50 needs surgery.
Went browsing around the tvs in JL this afternoon, and was approached by a lady from Panasonic.
Brilliant I thought, just the person. So I asked her about JL stocking the GT60, and she responded by saying, "are you sure there is a GT60, as I don't have it listed on my sheet"
Not a great start, but I did get an answer about when JL will be stocking the VT65 in store, mid May. Though she did say that no stores had stock yet, not even the big stores in London. " />
I was looking at the F8500 which was just behind the GT50, and I told her that I owned the GT, but was looking to exchange it because of the dse and ir problems.
Unfortunately, a guy who was in the process of (possibly) buying the GT, pulled me into the conversation he was having with a member of JL's staff, and I'm not sure he was impressed about the dse, and the JL guy didn't look impressed either, if the looks he was giving me are anything to go by.
I left soon after, as it didn't seem a good time to ask about a possible exchange.
The Samsung didn't look that great though.
LOUNGE: Panasonic TX-P50GT50 (is poorly) / Panasonic DMP-BDT120 / Yamaha RX-A2020 / Dali Zensor 3 (front) / Dali Zensor Vokal (centre) / Mordaunt Short MS20i Pearl Edition (rear) / Q Acoustics1000Si (sub) / Roksan Radius 5.2 (is poorly) / Ortofon Super OM20 Cartridge / Sky HD / WD My Book Live 2TB / Seagate Expansion 2TB / Nintendo Wii / Tacima CS-929
BEDROOM: Samsung LE32C450 / Sony BDP-S360 / Echostar HDS-600RS / Netgear WNCE2001
Did you see what picture settings the Samsung was on? Mid May for the VT65 - sounds okay, pity they cant get it sooner though.
Samsung looked like it was on Dynamic gel.
I'm sure it was on BBC1 HD, but the sharpness was lacking for me, but it's so hard to tell the PQ when it's on Dynamic.

1) I struggle to believe how uninformed AV department staff usually are. You feel like screaming "This is my hobby, but it's your job!!!"
2) If there's no stock, even in London, I'd love to know where the TV in my living room came from.
3) Sounds like you did your good deed for the day with the customer in store.
4) Interesting that the Sammy didn't look so impressive.
5) I understand why you left, but you might have negotiated a great deal by threatening to stick around!
If it looked bright it was probably on dynamic - I left it on normal and it was really dark.
1. She was employed directly by Panasonic, so even worse really
4. Dynamic mode doesn't do anything any favours though
5. JL guy was quite big, and he knew how to give a look.
Liverpool are winning 6 -0 at Newcastle, with 7 mins to go.
In store business is not the same as online business and stock is separate and different...this is the same for many large on line stores....clothing is a good example....
That will do nicely!
Even better. If assaulted by staff you get your TV of choice for free! Simply sport a neck brace and cower in his presence to claim.*
