Sony KDL40W4500 help needed asap
Just saw this offer in Sony Centre Birmingham today
Sony KDL40W4500 + 5yr D&G warranty +
Sony BDPS350 Blu-ray Disc Player +
Levv - Glass Stand (worth 60 quid on amazon) +
Sony HDMI cable which they are saying is worth £50
All this for £1250, is this worth it? Or should i look around???
Wakefield Sony Centre has the same tv, Blu ray and 5 year warranty for £1199.99.......haggle!
I would pop down to the show but im in Brum and that would cost me around 30 quid in fuel to get to which could go towards the tv lol
Oh they also had the 40W4000 inc 5yr warranty and the same bluray player for 900. Do u think that would be better?
What would you recon Amazon are like to order TV's from???
As for haggling Sony Centre Birmingham wouldnt have any of it, they even said non of there sets have come back with any clouding issues.
I Picked mine up last night from Sony Centre In Trafford Centre Manchester.
I got the 40W4500 plus the 350 blu Ray player for £1099 minus 10% off this weekend! So the total was £989.
ÿ
Very pleased with the TV! I also just picked up an HDMI cable from HMV for 9.99 which seems good but I have a the QED purple HDMI coming tommorrow so it will be interesting to see the Difference (If Any).ÿ
The above deal i mentioned above came out about £70 cheaper than Amazon.
If I'm honest I'd prob hang on until the probs/non probs have been ironed out. I'm not usually put off by the odd issue but I feel it may not be the right time to buy.
I was giving this tv a really good look, but have decided to go for a Pioneer in the new year instead. Prices will come down and the reliability will be checked. The package you mentioned was good value (more for the warranty than anything else) and the player is 175 quid at the moment so you're getting the rest for a grand....ish.
No, personally I'd hang on. But I bought a px80 as a fill in and haven't replaced it yet, so could be described as ' Cautious'
Confused!
Birminghams a ripoff!
Well a trip to Manchester would be closer and Nicer than London Traffic etc. I don't have any regrets buying the set and am really pleased with it so far.
If you're doing nothing tomorrow, why not go and see all you need to see in 1 go. 3o quid is a small price to pay for security of mind. You'll see all the alternatives and meet the team.
If you come back with a bargain then that's even sweeter. It's on'y an hour or so if you leave early enough.
Cheers guys, thanx for all the replies. Will need to think about it i think.
Am having similar issues choosing between KDL 4500 and Panasonic TH42PZ85B. Clouding issue seems to be quite a major factor on Sony. Most TV manufacurers are giving 5Yrs free now. Like has been said can pick both up seperately cheaper.
I personally am waiting till the fallout after Xmas and New year, once the poor sales figures are released.
Does no one think the KDL 40W4000 is anygood? Maybe a lil older but it got really good reviews without the clouding issue..
Ginder:Does no one think the KDL 40W4000 is anygood? Maybe a lil older but it got really good reviews without the clouding issue..
You really are puzzled at the moment, aren't you ?
I would buy a Panasonic plasma. Far more natural colours and excellent motion handling.
I've just watched another film tonight. It's really good. The clouding issue people keep talking about i see ever so slightly ! ÿnot so much in the film itself but more when i switch from HDMI to Component. It only seems to be in the corner's.ÿ
The only i'm thinking is that I might be getting paranoid and looking for it after reading all these forums.
ÿIs clouding not a natural thing that happens slightly on an LCD? can it get worse?ÿ

I'd look around. The tv can be got for varying prices and the quality you've fully debated. The player is cheap but the hdmi is not worth that (even if it costs that) and that leaves the stand which you'd have to love because you know in a few months.....
Why not pop down to the WHS&V show and see what you can get there.
Any Sony I bought I'd want to see working first !
