screen resolution for pictures and video from i-pod docking station?

If you connect the video output of an i-pod docking station to your T.V. what resolution will the pictures be displayed in? I am looking for a way of viewing my pictures using an LCD TV and thought about an ipod sat in a dock that has video output. Wouldn't the display just be the i-pod screen resolution (which after a quick search on the internet seems to be 320 x 240) scaled up by the TV? Which would probably look horrible?
To get the full resolution of my pictures, I guess I would have to connect my PC to the TV or use the new Apple TV box?
Wasn't sure which forum to put this, so went for the TV section?!?
