I am speccing a new system for myself [TV-Speakers-DVD] so far convinced myself that the best speaker/amp system and DVD for my purposes would be the Yamaha YSP1100 and the MarantzDV7001 but totally bemused by which 37 -40 inch TV [Plasma or LCD] to go for ....... thought I'd narrowed it down to the Panasonic TH-37PX70 following your August mag review but what about 1080P ...... Help ....!!!
Listen to lots of CD music [all types] and have a large DVD collection.

Would the Marantz's upscaling be a waste of time though when used with the Panasonic?

Nope, you can just set it to upscale to 720p or 1080i - I'm pretty sure 720p will be best, and look great on a screen of this size.

This thread covers pretty similar ground. I wouldn't get too hung up on 1080P given the system you are proposing.
