In what way have I lost any "high ground"? For that to happen I would have to have been trying to claim some kind of high ground in the first place! (Unlikely given that I'm sat here watching my Samsung LED LCD TV as I type this...).
I would also have thought it pretty clear my last post was not meant to be completely serious, unless being bullied by inanimate consumer electronics goods is something that's actually happened to people, in which case apologies for any distress or upset caused.
It was simply a lighthearted query about why Z always seems to approach these threads with an unusually passionate advocation that LED is 'Good', plasma is 'Bad', and that LED technology must somehow 'triumph' over other technologies.

I can see tomorrows headlines in Private eye....
'Global Warming Averted.....as inefficent power hungry plasma TV ends in production'
I genuinely don't understand, why so much hatred of a display technology?
Were you bullied by a plasma TV as a child??
I don't see any hate been expressed by z058261 on Plasma TV. The TVs consume a heck lot more joules than an Led set.A widely known fact.
He turned it into a satirical humour. Why are you even replying?? You have losed the high ground on the subject.
My headline would be as follows: Plasma TV finally lay to rest after failed resuscitation.RIP.
Hmmm.....yet again, gamemaker makes an appearance when z appears. A mere coincidence??

Give it a rest M! The debate is over....case closed ! LEDs have triumphed as it is still standing and for many glorious years to come and including 8k.
Well that certainly proves that neither of you take an irrational, partisan and weirdly triumphalist approach to the subject in an effort to prove that LED as a technology has somehow 'won'...
It is Batman and Robin....big boss..... Case closed. Nothing more to debate.A befitting end.
How can you explain both of you posting from the same IP address then? Please decide which one you want to keep, as having two forum names is against house rules. - Mods.
I know it's october the 31st but the trolls seemed to be out tonight aswell.

Samsung still make plasmas don't they?
I've been out playing table-tennis this evening, so I'm catching up with this thread following the sad (for me) news that Panasonic are to cease plasma production, which I saw just before going out.
No bigboss, despite what What Hi-Fi moderators said previously, it certainly doesn't seem to me to be a coincidence that Gamemaker and z058261 re-appear almost simultaneously, after about three months of blessed silence since their last "contributions" to one of the the earlier 4K threads. They have several things in common - moderate, restrained, measured, logical arguments without introducing random "facts", a mature acceptance that other peoples' opinions may differ from theirs and still be valid, and observance of the normal rules of grammar and sentence construction.
I expect, though I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, that now Panasonic are to stop making plasmas, that Samsung and LG will also stop making plasmas in pretty short order. So soon there will be no debate because there will be no new plasmas being made. I also agree that plasmas use more power than LCDs/LEDs. Can gamemaker / z058261 accept that we all know that, so that he / they don't feel the need to repeat that every time? And no, I'm not against LEDs, my sister-in-law has three, and they would look wonderful if they were not on Dynamic setting. I happen to prefer plasmas, but I'm not against LEDs. I'm quite comfortable that gamemaker and z058261 prefer LEDs, and I have no wish to convert them. I just wish he/they wouldn't feel like mentioning their devotion to LEDs and their simultaneous abhorrence of plasmas quite so often.

You mean the one which provided no substantial evidence that Samsung were stopping production of plasma TVs?
I guess we'll find out in 2014.
So the answer at the moment is yes?
Can gamemaker / z058261 accept that we all know that, so that he / they don't feel the need to repeat that every time?
I'm afraid not. Every contribution has been the same. There's no deviation of rhetoric; and nothing to add to the "LED TVs are best and the Sony 905 is the best TV" argument.
It also makes no difference how democratic a position we adopt. Many forum members have stated that they're happy the two are delighted with their TVs. (I'll work on the basis that they're different people.) The response is consistently "LED TVs are best and the Sony 905 is the best TV."
If we asked for a view on HS2, the answer would be "LED TVs are best and the Sony 905 is the best TV."
If we asked for commentary on Britain's place in the European Union, the answer would be "LED TVs are best and the Sony 905 is the best TV."
If we pulled a string on their backs, the words "LED TVs are best and the Sony 905 is the best TV" would fall forward, ad nauseam.

Looks like it is indeed the same person posting under two different avatars! Check the comment from the mods above.
Yes, bigboss, we thought that they were the same socially rounded person a few months ago on the early 4K thread, but the moderators at the time said that they had different IP addresses. Now, the moderators say that they seem to have the same address so "they" are the same person. Personally, if I were a moderator, I would not allow him any more postings under either name, but I guess that would be dictatorial.
